Margaret McCandless Evans

Singing for concerts, weddings,

funerals & other gatherings

Margaret Evans (fka Margaret Beers), classically trained lyric soprano, has had a life full of music. She has an extensive repertoire and has performed in the Hartford, CT region and throughout New England. Margaret’s repertoire spans the centuries from Ned Rorem and Gwenyth Walker to George Frideric Handel and Maurice Ravel, including not only art songs and lieder, but also opera arias, operetta and folk songs.

In January of 2019, Margaret and her singing partner, Cleveland Williams, performed a fundraiser concert for Habitat For Humanity at Saint John’s Church in West Hartford.  In February of that year, both Margaret and Cleveland performed a concert at Sacred Heart Parish in Suffield, CT to raise money for a parishioner who does dentistry outreach in Haiti.  In May of 2019, the two singers performed at the Town and County Club in Hartford, CT, and raised over nine thousand dollars on behalf of the CT Humane Society.  Stacy Cahoon was the piano accompanist for all three concerts.

In October 2014, Margaret hosted the Concert For A Cure and raised over $2,000 for the Connecticut Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She performed with piano accompanist Floyd Higgins.

In 2012 Margaret premiered “My Creed of the Out-of-Doors,” with music by Stacy Cahoon, with lyrics by Rudolph Carl Stroll. Margaret was asked to perform “My Creed of the Out-of-Doors” at her beloved Camp Arcadia in Maine at their 100th Reunion in the summer of 2015. Over 450 former Arcadians were in attendance. The words of this piece are recited at the opening and closing ceremonies at this all girls camp in Casco, Maine.
